The Irish of 2008 are vastly improved over 2007?

San Diego St.  W 21-13
This was an embarrassing affair to say the least.  We were offensively outgained by the Aztecs.  This game was essentially a
dead lock that could have gone either way.  This is extremely sad when we were playing the 154th ranked team (Sagarin) and
proud weekly member of ESPN’s Bottom 10 worst teams in college football.  Good thing we played the 154th ranked team,
and not the 143rd ranked team, Yale or we may have lost!

Michigan W 35-17
Dear Rich Rodriguez,

Thanks for handing us 6 turnovers.  We know you outgained us offensively by almost the same amount of yards that USC
outgained Ohio State that same week (USC won 35-3).  Your currently 3-8 Wolverines wiped the field with us statistically, but
we sure appreciate those easy points.  I don’t know which Michigan player deserved to be the MVP for ND that game.  Tell your
team I sure appreciate you helping to delay the inevitable of me getting the boot.  As long as you hand us those turnovers
every year, we stand some chance of beating you.  Thanks again and Go Irish!

Love,
Chuck Weis

P.S. Please win a couple more games and get off ESPN’s Bottom 10 worst college teams!  I was there last year and it is no
fun.

At Michigan State L 23-7
Michigan State is a great team.  They have signature wins over … um…hmm… Indiana, Florida Atlantic, 6-5 Wisconsin,
Purdue… aw, hell! They haven’t beat ANYONE worth mentioning.  This is an average 9-2 team.  Their coach simply beats the
teams he is supposed to and manages to lose every big game (California & Ohio State).  Chuck Weis can’t even do that
much!

Purdue W 38-21
Another statistical dead lock.  ND was very fortunate to win as big as they did!  Thanks Joe Tiller for not caring in your final
year.  Let’s give Chuck the benefit of the doubt on this one… GOOD JOB!   You beat the amazing 3-8 Boilermakers.  Give him
an extension Swarbrick!

Stanford W 28-21
This is the first game that we hands down deserved to win, yet Chuck somehow managed to allow Stanford to get back in the
game and come within one final drive of tying the game.  Whew.  This was another solid win against a 5-6 Stanford squad.
Man, these signature wins against solid programs are starting to stack up (see sarcasm).

At North Carolina L 29-24
Wow. Good thing we lost to North Carolina in basketball and not football because that would have been really embarrassing!
Arguably, this is the best team we have played all season.  Don’t worry, it is no big deal to lose to UNC, they have more
television exposure, more money, better facilities, a higher paid coaching staff, more tradition, and better recruits than Notre
Dame (see more sarcasm).

At Washington (aka the Fightin’ Golfingham’s) W 33-7
The good news is that they are ranked 130th (Sagarin Rankings) which is better than San Diego St.  I am also am not going to
lie, it feels real good beating Ty.  Now that I have that off my chest, making fun of the ESPN’s Bottom 10 worst team in college
football, Washington, at this point is a lot like bullying the little kid in class. It’s just not right.

Pittsburgh (aka Team Wannstache) L 36-33
http://www.americanmustacheinstitute.org/ That has to be the greatest site I have ever seen in my life.  But I digress.  Let me
get this straight…. The “Offensive Guru” has not one, not two, not three, but FOUR overtimes and cannot score one
touchdown?! At HOME?!  I was at this game folks and let me say it was quite possibly the worst thing I have seen with my own
eyes. Coaching Grade = F Minus.

At Boston College L 17-0
1993.  I hate you and everything you stand for Back-Up College.  Thank the Lord above we didn’t play USC this week.  The
Trojans would have beat us 116-0.  This was the most embarrassing game I have watched in a long time.  The team was
uninspired, lackluster, and sloppy.  I can handle losing.  A lack of effort and incompetent coaching is UNACCEPTABLE.  Just
when I thought nothing could be more horrible than the Pitt game, Notre Dame lays this egg.

At Navy W 27-21
This was another embarrassing showing.  This was the Stanford Game Version 2.0.  How can we dominate a team the entire
game and let them back in at the end?  I have never been so upset after a win in my life.  Conclusion: Chuck Weis is in over
his head and needs to go now.  I don’t know what was more embarrassing: Notre Dame’s performance on the field or Jack
Swarbrick’s endorsement of Charlie in the 2nd quarter.

Syracuse Nov. 22nd
Notre Dame under Charlie Weis hits rock bottom. You thought 2007 was bad? At least the 2007 team could have beaten this
year's Syracuse. This game, at home, Senior Day, was an absolute joke. First loss ever to an 8-loss team.

At USC (The Evil Empire) Nov. 29th
I would rather be forced to swallow an inflated football and be punted into a cactus field than have to watch this game.  I look
forward to watch this flogging about as much as I look forward to having a colonoscopy.  If we keep it with 40 points I will be
shocked. UPDATE: We lost by 35. Fine, I was shocked.

THE BOTTOM LINE
We have lost to some very average teams and have beat NO ONE.  Our schedule is exponentially easier than last year.  What
do you think our record would be if we played Florida’s schedule?

HAWAII
MIAMI FL
at Tennessee
MISSISSIPPI
at Arkansas
LSU
KENTUCKY
Georgia
Vanderbilt
SOUTH CAROLINA
THE CITADEL
Florida State

Notre Dame would be lucky to have 3 wins.  Are we better than last year?  Absolutely not.
